Dear Colleagues,

After a national search, I'm very pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Helm as the University's new Registrar. He will join us on June 14, 2021. Jonathan comes to us from Baylor University where he has served as Registrar since 2011.

Jonathan's deep experience—20-plus years in both centralized and decentralized environments—makes him the perfect fit for this important role, one that is key to our success as we serve our students across all campuses. Prior to his role at Baylor, he served as an Associate University Registrar at the University of Virginia and as Assistant Registrar at the University of Missouri-Rolla. His far-reaching leadership efforts across the institutions he has served include services for students and faculty, policy development and implementation, academic records, registration, academic calendars, degree clearance and conferral, transcript and diploma issuance, transfer credit, grading processes, class scheduling, academic space planning and allocation, commencement ceremonies, degree audit systems, process improvement, technology and systems, management and development of teams, and office budgets.

In addition, Jonathan has been incredibly active in the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). His leadership among peers and well beyond is respected and sought out.

Jonathan holds a Master of Science in Education from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology).

As chair of the search committee, I want to thank everyone for their excellent efforts throughout a robust search process. And I hope you will join me in welcoming Jonathan to this role.

Sincerely,

Joseph J. McCarthy
Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies
