I. Grades and Symbols

This establishes the official University grades and symbols, including any corresponding grade points and definitions.

II. Grading Bases and Student Options

This regulates the determination of grade bases in accordance with the University's Grades and Symbols. Within the purview of the individual academic units, a course may be offered under one of the following available course grade bases.

AUD Audit

A student has the option to choose any of the grading bases available for a given class. In addition, a student may audit any course with the permission of the instructor and the academic center offering the course. Any student who chooses to change their grade basis or to audit a class must submit their request to the academic center offering the course by the deadlines established by that academic center and no later than the point when one fourth (25%) of the term or session has been completed. Examples include the following.

Student Grade Basis/Audit Requests for classes must be forwarded by the academic center to the Office of the University Registrar (OUR). Once approved by the academic center and processed by OUR, the grade submitted by the instructor must conform to the agreed upon option.
