Interim Leadership at the University Center for Teaching and Learning

Dear Colleagues,

As you likely know, Michael Bridges advised me in February of his decision to retire from his role as Executive Director of the University Center for Teaching and Learning (UCTL) effective June 30, 2025.

To ensure a smooth transition, I am pleased to announce that, effective July 7, Michael Arenth and Bridget Ridge will serve as Interim Co-Executive Directors of the UCTL.

Michael currently serves as Director of Educational Technologies at the Center, where he plays a critical role in advancing the University’s strategic goals around instructional innovation. He leads a talented team of technical and pedagogical experts, overseeing services ranging from learning management systems and classroom transformation to emerging makerspace initiatives. Michael is a strong advocate for both students and faculty, working to ensure equitable access to technology that enhances learning.

Bridget is the center’s Director of Administration and brings more than 18 years of experience at the University of Pittsburgh. Her career spans leadership and financial roles in the School of Social Work, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University Center for International Studies. Bridget’s expertise in institutional operations positions her well to support the center during this transition. She also serves on the University’s Business Intelligence Working Group with Pitt IT, focused on improving data accessibility for business managers across campus.

I am confident that Michael and Bridget will bring thoughtful and collaborative leadership to the center during this interim period. Please join me in supporting them as they step into their new roles.

Regards,
Joe
