Appointment of Interim Associate Provost for Digital Education and Teaching Innovation

January 6, 2023

I hope each of you had an enjoyable and rejuvenating Winter Break.

I am pleased to announce that Audra Longert will join the University of Pittsburgh as Interim Associate Provost for Digital Education and Teaching Innovation on January 9. As has been discussed at Council of Deans meetings, there is a current, urgent need to advance online education at Pitt strategically and efficiently. Audra will help us build momentum in online education and better coordinate the University’s approach.

Audra has held senior roles with both FutureLearn and edX, and has done sales, partnerships, and licensing for Bibliomotion, getAbstract, and Harvard Business Publishing. I am excited about the experience Audra will bring to Pitt and the ways in which she will be able to help us harness our collective efforts around online education over the next few months.

In addition, I have launched a national search for a permanent Associate Provost for Digital Education and Teaching Innovation. The individual we select will lead the University’s efforts in online education and will also lead the University Center for Teaching and Learning. Until that person is in place, Mike Bridges will continue in his current role as Interim Executive Director of the Teaching Center.

Audra will be in touch with many of you and your schools in the coming weeks. I thank you in advance for working collaboratively with her to help chart the University’s strategic direction in the online space.

Best,
Ann
