Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to share the news that Mike Chirdon-Jones has been selected to lead the Pre-Health Resource Center (PHRC), effective May 12, 2025. Mike is returning to the University of Pittsburgh after serving in various roles at the Community College of Allegheny County, most recently as the Senior Director of Academic Advising.
As you know, the PHRC focuses on providing support to all Pitt students who are interested in pursuing one of the many health-related academic programs at our University with an eye toward enabling them to reach their career goals within health fields. Over the past few years, the PHRC has strategically and sharply focused on graduate school preparation and experiential learning. The PHRC is also home to the Pre-Health Scholars Program, which is committed to the recruitment, retention, and graduation of pre-health undergraduates at the University of Pittsburgh.
Mike will oversee the PHRC’s excellent team of advisors and its portfolio of programming. In addition, he will continue to grow the PHRC’s connections to the health science disciplines across campus to better serve students in our health-related academic programs as they navigate their undergraduate studies and beyond.
Mike holds an EdD in social and comparative analysis in education from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in education from James Madison University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Juniata College.
Since October 1, 2024, Paula Davis has expertly served as interim director of the PHRC. I deeply appreciate her willingness to serve in this capacity and am very grateful for the ongoing and outstanding expertise she has brought not only to the Office of the Provost but to the University as a whole over many years.
Please join me in thanking Paula and in welcoming Mike back to the University of Pittsburgh.
Regards,
Adam Lee
