Pitt-Johnstown - Professional Licensure

Federal regulations and NC-SARA policy require that the University of Pittsburgh publicly disclose whether programs leading to professional licensure or certification meet the educational requirements of the state where the student enrolling is located.

This disclosure applies to all program modalities including in-person, online, or hybrid.

AS Respiratory Therapy (in-person)

The AS Respiratory Therapy MEETS the educational requirements for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.

Students interested in acquiring a professional license outside the state of Pennsylvania should contact the licensing board in their state of interest for the specific requirements of that state.

AS Surgical Technology (in-person)

The AS Surgical Technology MEETS the educational requirements for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.

Students interested in acquiring a professional license outside the state of Pennsylvania should contact the licensing board in their state of interest for the specific requirements of that state.

BSN Nursing (in-person)

The BSN Nursing MEETS the educational requirements for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.

BS and BA Education (in-person)

The BS and BA Education MEETS the educational requirements for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania in the following areas:

  • Biology Education (7-12)
  • Chemistry Education (7-12)  
  • Early Childhood with Special Education (PreK-12)
  • Early Level Education (PreK-4)
  • English Education 7-12
  • General Science Education (7-12)
  • Middle Level English/Language Arts Education (4-8)
  • Middle Level Social Studies Education (4-8)
  • Middle Level Mathematics (4-8)
  • Middle Level Science: (4-8)
  • Middle Level Social Studies Education (4-8)
  • Mathematics Education (7-12)
  • Social Studies Education 7-12
