Faculty Honors Convocation and
Chancellor Joan Gabel Installation

The 2024 Faculty Honors Convocation took place on

Friday, April 5
starting at 3 p.m.

in the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh Music Hall.

The convocation also had the distinction this year of the installation of Joan Gabel as the 19th Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh, making this year a celebration of achievements and a new era of leadership.

Awards and Recognition

At the Faculty Honors Convocation, the University of Pittsburgh gathers to pay tribute to the outstanding achievements of our faculty members that characterize the quality of academic life at the University of Pittsburgh. We also applaud the many contributions that these individuals make to the institution and the local community.

Information for Participants

Instructions for Honorees

The following instructions are for everyone who will be honored at the event:

  • Please arrive at the Carnegie Music Hall by 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5. The ceremony begins at 3 p.m.  
  • Faculty members who are being honored will be seated on the main floor in the Music Hall. Ushers will be on hand to assist as needed.
  • The celebration of honored faculty continues with a reception immediately following the event in the Music Hall Foyer. No tickets are necessary.
  • If you have a disability and require special accommodations in order to fully participate in the ceremony, please advise the Office of Special Events at 412-624-7100. We ask for your cooperation in notifying us as soon as possible.

Where will the reception be held?
A reception for all honorees will follow immediately after the convocation in the Music Hall Foyer.

Who can attend the Convocation?
The Faculty Honors Convocation is by invitation only.

Should I wear regalia?
Regalia is not a part of this ceremony, and it should not be worn at the event.

Where can I park?
Paid parking is available in the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh parking lot and at various University-operated garages on campus. Parking is also available at the metered spaces around the Carnegie Music Hall.
