Assistant Provost Role

As Assistant Provost for Strategy, Laura Winters advises on policy, procedural and operational issues related to academic affairs and cultivates key institutional partnerships to advance strategic priorities related to Pitt’s academic mission. She works to operationalize strategic initiatives and serves as the primary point of contact for the stewardship Plan for Pitt milestones across all responsibility areas within the Office of the Provost. She also manages internal and external strategy meetings, engages with academic units to ensure alignment in support of capital planning and physical resources, and represents the Office of the Provost on various university-wide committees.

Professional Biography

Laura Winters joined the University of Pittsburgh and the Office of the Provost in 2016 as Assistant to the Provost for Special Projects. She formalized processes around senior academic administrator searches and has worked on more than 30 searches since joining the office.

Prior to assuming her current role, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff and advanced strategic planning and Provost-level priorities and special initiatives. 

Before joining Pitt, she spent five years working for the Dean of the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. Laura is also a nationally rated gymnastic judge and judges both Junior Olympic and intercollegiate competitions.
