Student Success

Built for Student Success

Welcome — I'm so glad you're here.

As the Vice Provost for Student Success, I have the privilege of helping every Pitt student find their path to persistence and graduation. That work has never been mine alone. It belongs to the advisors, mentors, coaches, faculty, and staff across all of our schools and regional campuses who show up for students every day, and to the students themselves, who remind us why this work matters.

Our team is guided by four values that shape everything we do: collaboration, curiosity, strategic thinking, and a student-first mindset. We believe student success isn't the responsibility of one office—it's a shared commitment across our whole University community. That belief is why we've invested in a shared model of advising, in research-informed practice through action research and partnerships, and in training and development that helps our advising community grow together.

Whether you're an advisor looking for resources, a colleague exploring collaboration, or a student wondering where to turn next, I want you to know: It's possible at Pitt, and we're here to help you get there.

Thank you for being part of this work. I look forward to what we'll build together.

Warmly,
April E. Belback, D.Ed.
