Laurel Roberts is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences in the Dietrich Schools of Arts and Sciences, as well as an Assistant Dean who handles a variety of student requests and needs. In addition, Roberts is the Course Director for the Summer Premed Academic Enrichment Program (SPAEP) for Pitt’s School of Medicine. SPAEP is an early decision premed program for students from groups underrepresented in medicine.
Roberts has been widely recognized for her teaching excellence and support of students, having won the CGS Students Choice Award and the Tri-Delta Outstanding Professor award. She is also a champion of diversity and inclusion. In addition to her work on SPAEP, she has served on the Provost’s Taskforce on Diversity Programming for Faculty Development, the Dietrich School Diversity Task Force, and as a mentor for Dietrich’s Hot Metal Bridge program.
