Office of the Provost

Announcement

September 21, 2009

Dear Members of the Council of Deans:

As you know, the University is reviewing the G-20 situation daily and adapting as necessary; this email contains the most recent decision regarding the University’s academic operations this week. Updates will be posted on the University’s G-20 Summit site (http://www.g20.pitt.edu/). Please encourage everyone in your unit to enroll in the Emergency Notification System so that they can be informed of any immediate changes.

The most recent decision, to be announced today, is to conclude all classes in the Cathedral of Learning by noon (12 PM) on Thursday in response to an event associated with the G-20.

To summarize where we stand:  The Frick Fine Arts building will be closed entirely on Thursday. At this point, no other building on campus is being closed. Also on Thursday, classes in the Cathedral should conclude by noon, and classes across the Pittsburgh campus should conclude by 4 PM.

Please distribute this information to the faculty, staff, and students in your unit. If you have any questions or concerns, please send those directly to Kit Ayars (kit@pitt.edu).

Sincerely,

James V. Maher
