Studies Annual Reception Welcoming New Women Faculty
Dr. Jane Cauley is an internationally recognized expert in the area of osteoporosis epidemiology and prevention. She is the clinic site principle investigator of several large cohort studies including the Study of Osteoporotic Fractures, ongoing since 1986, and the Osteoporotic Fracture Risk in Men Study, ongoing since 2000. She was co-principle investigator of the Women’s Health Initiative Study at the University of Pittsburgh and served as Chair of the Calcium/Vitamin D/Osteoporosis advisory group for WHI for over 10 years. Her research interests include the epidemiology of osteoporotic fractures and falls, and the epidemiology of sex hormones and their relationship to chronic disease. She has authored more than 495 scientific papers, contributed many book chapters and lectures frequently. She was recently awarded the Provost Award for Excellence in Mentoring at the University of Pittsburgh and the ASBMR Frederic C. Bartter Award for outstanding clinical investigation in disorders of bone and mineral metabolism.
The 2009 Chancellor’s Affirmative Action Award was presented to PACWC on June 10, 2009 at Senate Council.
