Anti-Black Racism Course FAQs

I am a first year undergraduate student. How will I be enrolled in the class?

First year students will be auto-enrolled in the course according to a schedule determined by the leadership of their respective academic unit.

Students may opt-out of engaging in this course by unenrolling from the course via the PeopleSoft/Highpoint HCX mobile app.

If you are a part-time, first-year student and wish to enroll in the PITT 0210 course, you can do so directly in PeopleSoft.

If you are a continuing Pitt student and wish to enroll in the PITT 0210 course, you can do so directly in PeopleSoft. If you have trouble (i.e., you receive an over-18-credits error), reach out to your advisor who will need to complete an override.

If you are a graduate student and wish to enroll in the PITT 0210 course, you can do so directly in PeopleSoft.

I’m a student at Pitt but not a first year undergraduate. How can I enroll in the course?

If you are an undergraduate student at Pitt, you can enroll yourself in PITT 0210 just as you would enroll for any course via the PeopleSoft/Highpoint HCX mobile app. If you are a graduate student at Pitt, you will need to request a permission code to enroll by emailing ABRCourse@pitt.edu

Can I register for the Anti-Black Racism Course if I am not registered for other credits (or full-time dissertation study)?

No. The one-credit course is intended for students enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh as part-time or full-time students.

How can I access the course materials and information?

Once you are enrolled in the PITT 0210 course, log into Canvas from your MyPitt portal to access the course materials and information.

Will I be charged for the course? What if I already have 18 or more credits? How will this impact my financial aid?

No matter your student status, there will be no cost associated with the PITT 0210 course and it will not change your academic load nor impact your financial aid status.

Will this course meet an academic requirement?

Check with your academic advisor, school, or department to better understand how the PITT 0210 course may meet your specific academic requirements.

It is important to note that the PITT 0210 course is not a substitution for the Dietrich School diversity general education requirement.

What is the grading structure for the course? How do I know I will be successful?

The PITT 0210 course follows an S/NC grading structure. Students who complete the course will receive an “S” or satisfactory on their transcript. Students who do not complete the course will receive an “NC” or no credit on their transcript.

While PITT 0210 is an asynchronous course, the expectation is for students to complete all modules by the end of the relevant term.

Modules in the PITT 0210 course are sequenced. In other words, you have to complete one to open up the next. You are welcome to re-engage in the modules, but you cannot “jump ahead.”
