Office of Research
Vice Provost George Klinzing understands the drive to explore the unknown and solve problems. He has spent most of his career as a research professor in chemical engineering, pursuing his own passion for materials processing. “I enjoy finding novel and creative solutions to problems,” he says. “It’s very stimulating and rewarding to see your ideas applied and recognized by your peers.” As Vice Provost for Research since 1995, George Klinzing has had the privilege of directing his passion toward helping the entire community of research faculty, staff, and students achieve their own career satisfaction and research success.
In addition to chairing the University Research Council, which examines emerging research issues nationally, Vice Provost Klinzing chairs the Council on Academic Computing. He also facilitates ongoing dialogue and collaboration among research faculty, industry, and the government and encourages multidisciplinary collaboration by spearheading initiatives around issues such as nanotechnology, energy, simulation and modeling, and national preparedness. He works closely with the Office of Technology Management to offer entrepreneurial support and education for research faculty, staff, and students in their development of commercial innovation.
