Andrew R. Blair
Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
As a long-standing faculty member and faculty administrator, Vice Provost Andrew Blair’s daily interactions with individual faculty, department chairs, and deans “drive home that this is indeed an outstanding environment of which all faculty can be proud.” He takes seriously and upholds the University of Pittsburgh system that preserves the rights and responsibilities of faculty—not just in the oversight of established policies and procedures but also in its commitment to ensure that faculty members are fully and fairly informed.
Among the various areas under Vice Provost Blair’s purview are oversight and monitoring of formal and informal faculty appeals and grievances and review of individual school appointment, promotion, and tenure guidelines for compliance with University policy. He also helps foster performance excellence by monitoring the faculty annual review process within individual schools; by overseeing or organizing orientation sessions for new faculty, department chairs, and senior administrators; as well as by serving as appointed chair of or liaison to University-wide committees that address some of these areas.
