Vice Provost Beeson is responsible for the encouragement of high quality graduate and undergraduate programs throughout the University. “The University has a dual role in graduate education,” she notes. “We provide professional education through our professional programs in schools such as Law and Medicine, for instance, but we also educate the next generation of scholars, who will help expand our body of knowledge and educate the next generation of professionals or scholars in their discipline.”

As Vice Provost for Graduate Studies, Beeson works with committees of faculty, staff, and graduate students to establish minimum standards and to review and make recommendations on proposals for all new graduate and professional programs. She is the liaison to the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Women’s Concerns, one of several of her activities aimed at improving the status of women at the University of Pittsburgh.

As Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, Beeson works with committees of faculty, staff, and undergraduate students to review and make recommendations on proposals for all new undergraduate programs. She is chair of the Provost's Advisory Committee on Undergraduate Programs and Co-Chairs the Enrollment Management Committee with Vice Provost Humphrey.
