As noted in the Faculty Handbook of the University, ‘the appointment of a faculty member to a Distinguished Professorship at the University of Pittsburgh constitutes the highest honor that can be accorded to a member of the professorate. It is important, therefore, that regularized policies and procedures govern such appointments.’ This Distinguished Faculty Prenomination and Nomination Process document outlines the procedures recommended by the Distinguished Faculty Committee, building on the requirements as set forth in the Faculty Handbook.
